Adopt a Lagoon Zone

Two Primary Participation Paths
Choose the path that fits how you want to help.
Adopt Through Action
Active Adopters receive:
Adopting and surveying a zone is free. Optional monthly or yearly donations help support SCWS survey tools and field operations. A donation does not guarantee SCWS will survey or recover everything in your zone.
Support a Lagoon Zone
Zone Supporters receive:
SCWS surveys and recovers items as resources, conditions, and authorization allow. A donation does not guarantee complete coverage or recovery.
When qualifying SCWS discoveries occur during the active support period:
"Discovery credited to [Public Supporter Name]"
"Survey performed by Space Coast Water Sweep"
Recovery credit always identifies the team that actually removed the item.
Important Notice
How the Map Recognition Works
Discovery, surveying, and recovery are separate credits so the public record stays accurate.
Active Adopter Finding
Found and reported by Lagoon Guardians
The adopter personally found and reported the debris.
SCWS Finding in a Supporting Adopter's Zone
Discovery credited to Lagoon Guardians
Hidden Waters survey performed by Space Coast Water Sweep
SCWS discovered the debris; the supporter's zone gets discovery recognition.
Recovery by Another Team
Removed by [Actual Recovery Team]
Recovery credit always identifies the team that actually removed the item.
